In the early hours of Monday, October 26, torrential overnight rain sent runoff, rocks and boulders pouring off Khao 50 Pi — the steep hill behind the town — and down into the Nanai neighbourhood, damaging homes, shops and vehicles. By late morning the water had largely receded, clean-up crews were clearing the streets, and — the fact that matters most — officials were reporting no casualties.
