Downsizing
Do you intend to relocate to Phuket soon? You'll need to declutter your possessions if you're moving to a smaller apartment or condo in Phuket. Here are some pointers for downsizing to a smaller place.
People are interested in condominiums, particularly in cities, according to top-selling realtors. Whether you're renting and need a cheaper place or selling your property quickly or just because you need a smaller home, you'll want to go through your belongings and declutter!
There won't be enough room for all you now possess in a smaller place. This is an excellent opportunity to go through your closet and get rid of items you no longer wear, donate the kid's stuff your children have outgrown, and part ways with your collection of model airplanes that are gathering dust.
If you're not sure where to begin, here are some suggestions to make decluttering a bit simpler and a lot less stressful. That is, assuming you aren't attempting to clean out a decade's worth of junk from the garage.
1. Tour the house or apartment one room at a time.
Begin your decluttering frenzy one area at a time to avoid being overwhelmed. Declutter a room in zones as you begin. For example, if you're beginning in the kitchen, focus on the pantry first and then go on to the Tupperware cabinet after the pantry is complete. Similarly, if you're cleaning your living room, start with your movie collection before moving on to periodicals and books.
When you declutter one area at a time, one zone at a time, the process will be a lot faster and simpler to arrange as you go. Furthermore, if you go through each zone one at a time, you're less likely to get overwhelmed by how much more things you have than you expected.
2. Be Honest With Yourself About What You Need and Don't Need
It's difficult to rummage through your stuff and say goodbye to items you care about. Sure, those band shirts from your college days may be connected with many memories, but do you ever wear them? You may have amassed a sizable collection of pebbles from your travels, but what do they serve? Do you really need 25 coffee mugs?
The key here is to set aside your emotional attachments and be practical about what you truly need and what you'll truly utilize. You may ask individuals in your social circle if they need something you don't need, or you may give it to a local Phuket charity.
3. Set limits and stick to them.
Decluttering is more than simply getting rid of things you don't need. You may retain certain things as long as they are reasonable. Set a limit for how much of each item you wish to retain. For example, out of those 25 coffee cups, allow yourself to retain 5 to 10 of your favorites. Choose a few rocks that stick out from the others.
Setting and sticking to limitations might be difficult, but doing so allows you to maintain the things that are important to you while getting rid of the ones that aren't. It will be more difficult to stay to a limit for items such as clothing, shoes, coats, and other items that we believe we need in plenty, but here is where something like a capsule wardrobe may come in helpful.
4. Measure your new space to see where everything will go.
Measuring your new Phuket apartment will allow you to decide how much room you have for your items and where they will be stored. If you don't have enough storage space in your kitchen, you may have to pare down your Tupperware collection. If your bedroom closet is on the tiny side, you'll need to look over your shoes and apparel to ensure that everything fits.
Measuring your new apartment will not only help you estimate how much you can bring and where it will all go, but it will also help you select what pieces of furniture you can bring with you - if any. Moving from a big apartment to a tiny apartment may need the acquisition of smaller furniture items to suit the area. If this is the case, you may earn some additional money by selling it to a thrift store, a yard sale, or even an internet marketplace.
5. Think of repurposing items to keep them around.
Consider how you can reuse stuff that you just cannot part with. You remember those band shirts we mentioned? You might make a quilt out of them or frame and put a handful of your faves on the wall. When you think imaginatively, you'd be shocked how much you can retain!
You are not restricted to recycling tiny items; you can even repurpose furniture. If you no longer have space for a dresser but can't bear the thought of getting rid of it, convert it into a bathroom vanity, a kitchen island, or a sleek new home bar. Whatever piece of furniture you wish to upcycle, chances are you may get some amazing ideas by doing a fast Google search!
We understand that when you're attempting to downsize to a smaller Phuket apartment, it may be difficult to let go of goods with emotional attachments or to let go of the notion that you'll save something because you may need it eventually. However, if you are relocating to a smaller space, you will not want to attempt to pack everything you now own into that smaller space.
If you are unable to do it yourself due to a lack of time or just don't know where to begin, you might ask your Phuket real estate agent if they know any professional organizers that can assist you. It will be an additional cost, but it may be the kind of assistance you need. Of course, if you know somebody who is into minimalism, you can always ask them for assistance!
