Patong Harbor View: Location Guide — Walk, Bike & Drive Times
Patong Harbor View: Walk, Bike & Drive Times to Everything in Patong
When you book a hotel, location barely matters — you're there for a few nights. When you rent for a month or more, location is everything. Your daily walk to the beach, the nearest fresh market, how far the gym is, how long the airport run takes at 6 AM — these small distances shape your whole stay.

Patong Harbor View sits at the south end of Patong, between the hillside and the sea — a 10-minute drive or 13-minute bike ride to the beach, and far enough from Bangla Road to sleep at night. Below are real distances from our front door to the places you'll actually go, with honest walk, bicycle, and car/motorbike times. Distances were measured from the property; times assume a normal walking pace (5 km/h), an easy bicycle pace (15 km/h), and typical Patong traffic for cars.

The Beach: 10 Minutes by Car, 13 by Bike
The south end of Patong Beach is the quiet end — fewer touts, more space, and the same Andaman water. From Patong Harbor View it's about a 13-minute bike ride or 10 minutes by car, down the hill to the sand. This is the trip you'll do every day: morning swim, sunset, evening stroll. For a long stay, that easy daily run to the beach is worth more than any hotel amenity — it's the difference between "going to the beach" being an event and it just being your routine.
Beach chairs and umbrellas rent by the day at the south end for a fraction of the hotel-zone prices, and the beach road (Thaweewong) has a proper sidewalk the whole way. Most of our long-stay guests buy a cheap bicycle in the first week — the 13-minute ride to the sand becomes the best part of the day — and many just rent a motorbike for the whole stay.
Food: Markets, Groceries & Eating Like a Local
Banzaan Fresh Market (31 min walk / 10 min bike / 8 min drive) is where long-stay living pays for itself. This is Patong's real fresh market — seafood straight off the boats, tropical fruit at local prices, meat, vegetables, and a cooked-food hall upstairs where a full dinner costs less than a hotel breakfast. Go in the morning for the best selection. Once you start shopping here, your food budget drops by half compared to eating out every meal, which is exactly why monthly renters love it.
Big C (27 min walk / 9 min bike / 7 min drive) is your supermarket: imported cheese, wine, proper coffee, toiletries, household goods — everything you can't find at the market. There's also a Tesco Lotus Express and 7-Elevens nearby for daily top-ups. 7-Eleven in Thailand is genuinely useful: bill payments, decent ready meals, cash withdrawal without ATM fees at some locations.

Cook it at home: every unit has a full kitchen for those Banzaan market hauls.
The street-food scene between here and Bangla Road needs no timetable — it's everywhere, all day. But the standout for long-stay guests is the night market area near Banzaan, which runs in the evenings and is a 6-minute bicycle ride away.
Malin Plaza Night Market (11 min walk / 4 min bike / 3 min drive) is Patong's big evening market — half food, half shopping. Rows of stalls with grilled seafood, Thai classics, smoothies, and desserts at local prices, plus clothes, souvenirs, and goods. It's the go-to evening spot when you don't feel like cooking: a full spread for two runs a few hundred baht, and you can grab a cheap T-shirt on the way out. Open nightly; go hungry.
Daily Supplies: 7-Eleven & Tops Daily Nearby
One of the underrated perks of this location: daily supplies are close. The nearest 7-Eleven is about 740 meters up Prachanukhro Rd — roughly a 9-minute walk — and the nearest Tops Daily is about 430 meters away, roughly a 5-minute walk.
Nearest stores from our front door:
- 7-Eleven — ~740 m, 9 min walk (Prachanukhro Rd)
- Tops Daily — ~430 m, 5 min walk
What to get where: 7-Eleven handles drinking water (big 6-litre bottles are the best value), ready meals, phone top-ups, and bill payments. Tops Daily is better for fresh basics — fruit, yogurt, bread, eggs — at slightly better quality. For a proper weekly shop, Big C is 7 minutes by car (see above). Ask us about drinking-water delivery in your first week and we'll point you the right way.
Shopping & Daily Life
Jungceylon (29 min walk / 10 min bike / 8 min drive) is Patong's big mall — two wings, a cinema, banks, phone shops, a pharmacy, and air conditioning when you need to escape the midday heat. Getting a Thai SIM, opening a bank account, or replacing a broken phone charger all happen here. For a monthly renter, Jungceylon is infrastructure, not tourism.
Banks, ATMs, laundries, tailors, motorbike rental shops, and clinics line the roads between the property and the mall. Most errands of normal life are a short ride away — which is the whole point of renting instead of hotel-hopping.
Nightlife: Close Enough, Far Enough
Bangla Road is 29 minutes on foot, 10 by bike, or 8 by car — and that's the sweet spot. Close enough for a cheap tuk-tuk home from a night out, far enough that you never hear it from your balcony. This is the single biggest location advantage of the south end of Patong: the center of the action is a short ride away, but your mornings are quiet.
Simon Cabaret (5 min walk) is right around the corner — Phuket's famous ladyboy cabaret show, running nightly. It's the kind of thing visitors do once and long-stay guests take their visiting friends to.

Health & Safety Net
Patong Hospital (37 min walk / 12 min bike / 10 min drive) is a proper public hospital a short drive away — and there are international clinics closer. For anyone staying a month or more, knowing the hospital is minutes away matters. Pharmacies are everywhere; ask us and we'll point you to the nearest well-stocked one.
Phuket's tap water isn't for drinking, but every 7-Eleven and Big C sells big cheap water bottles, and most long-stay guests get a water delivery service set up in week one — your building manager can arrange it.
Day Trips Worth the Drive
Karon Beach (12 min drive) is the next beach south — quieter and more spread out than Patong, with a big park behind the sand. Many of our guests split beach days between Patong and Karon.
Kata Beach (18 min) adds surf in the low season and a charming little town. Big Buddha (16 min) sits on the hill between Kata and Chalong — go late afternoon for the light and the views over the whole south of the island.
Phuket Old Town (30 min) is a different island entirely: Sino-Portuguese shophouses, coffee shops, Sunday walking street market. It's the cultural day trip, and worth doing twice — once in the day, once for the Sunday market.
The Airport Run
Phuket International Airport is about 29 km by road — roughly 50 minutes by car, depending on traffic. For a 6 AM flight, leave at 3:30 AM and you'll be fine; for midday flights, allow 90 minutes. Options:
- Metered taxi / Grab: 800–1,200 baht, door to door, 24 hours. Book the night before for early flights.
- Airport Smart Bus: runs from the beach road area to the airport, ~100 baht, about 90 minutes. Great value if your luggage is light.
- Private transfer: your building manager or our team can arrange one — message us a day ahead.
Getting Around: The Long-Stay Playbook
Walking covers the immediate neighborhood — Simon Cabaret, the local bar strip on Prachanukhro Rd, Malin Plaza market, and the nearest convenience stores. Patong's south end is hilly in parts, so save your legs for the short stuff.
Bicycle is the sweet spot for the 1–3 km range: Malin Plaza, the bar strip, Big C, Jungceylon, Bangla Road. A basic new bicycle costs 3,000–5,000 baht — it pays for itself in a week of saved tuk-tuk fares, and you can sell it on when you leave.
Motorbike rental (250–300 baht/day, ~3,500/month) unlocks the whole island: Karon, Kata, Big Buddha, Old Town. You need a proper license and travel insurance that covers motorbikes — no exceptions, we insist. Wear a helmet; the hospital is close, but let's not test that.
Tuk-tuks and Grab/Bolt fill the gaps. In-town tuk-tuk rides run 100–200 baht (agree the price first); Grab and Bolt are metered and usually cheaper. For the airport, always pre-book.
Why This Matters for Monthly Renters
A hotel sells you a room. A monthly rental sells you a neighborhood — and this neighborhood works. Everything daily is a short ride, everything weekly is close, and the airport is under an hour. That's the math that turns "maybe I'll stay a month" into "I'm staying three."
